Guests stay in the tranquil Temple building, which is removed from the hustle and bustle of the dining and bar areas.
The hotel has ten twin rooms, ten double rooms, three terrace rooms, a terrace suite, an executive king room, and the Wedgwood Suite. All rooms have a view of the river and gardens, and the suite and three of the bedrooms, a private terrace or patio with river views.
Monkey Island has undergone extensive work to its top floor rooms and a number of rooms on the ground floor, following the renovation and repainting of the exterior of the Temple Building last Summer. All refurbished rooms include digital TV and ipod docking station, as well as new fixtures and furnishings.
The Wedgwood Suite
This glamorous grade I listed room is steeped in history, dating back to 1748 when it was built as part of the Temple as a fishing lodge, with original painted ceilings, paneled walls and wooden floor and an incredible 220 degree view over the gardens of Monkey Island and the River Thames.
The Wedgwood Suite houses a stunning super-king size four-poster bed. Adjoining is a dressing room with dressing table, full-length mirrors and extensive wardrobe space and an en-suite bathroom. All rooms have natural daylight and views over the gardens and river.
“Thank you for making our stay so pleasant and relaxing. Mum always looks forward to a stay at Monkey Island and feels that it is home from home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the not too distant future.” Ms Wills
“Thank you for putting us in the spectacular Wedgewood Room – it was an absolute treat. Needless to say, we will most definitely both be back.” Ms Jackson
